A Busy Fall 2026 at the RGCQ

Learn, stay informed and better manage your co-ownership

News

The fall season promises to be a busy one at the RGCQ. From September to December, a wide range of activities and training sessions will give directors, co-owners, managers and professionals opportunities to update their knowledge, explore key issues in greater depth and gain the tools they need to better fulfill their responsibilities in co-ownership.

Kicking Off the Fall with the RGCQ Colloquium

The fall season will begin with one of the RGCQ’s major annual events: the 2026 RGCQ Colloquium, to be held in Montréal on September 11 under the theme Living Well in Co-ownership: Protect Today, Prepare for Tomorrow.

The event will bring together co-owners, directors, managers and professionals to discuss the issues shaping co-ownership living and management today. Two separate tracks, one designed for the general public and the other for professionals, will give participants access to conferences and discussions tailored to their respective realities.

Beyond simply meeting legal and administrative obligations, the Colloquium will provide an opportunity to consider the decisions that can better protect buildings, preserve their value and prepare them for the future.

The Essentials of Effective Co-ownership Administration

Following the Colloquium, the fall program will continue with several training sessions focusing on the responsibilities involved in administering a co-ownership.

Beginning in September, new directors, as well as those looking to strengthen their knowledge, will have an opportunity to review the fundamentals they need to effectively carry out their role. Other training sessions will take a closer look at how general meetings operate, including their preparation and conduct, as well as the role and powers of the chair of the meeting.

In October, the program will also cover the fundamentals of co-ownership accounting, an essential topic for gaining a better understanding of the syndicate’s finances and participating more effectively in related decisions.

Together, these activities will provide an opportunity to revisit some of the essential knowledge required for sound governance and better-informed decision-making.

Important Decisions for Managing and Protecting the Building

Effective co-ownership administration also means knowing how to surround yourself with the right professionals and ensure that the building is adequately protected.

In October, a training session will focus specifically on choosing a co-ownership manager. The mandate, desired skills and selection criteria will be at the heart of this activity, which is designed to better equip syndicates when making a decision that can have a significant impact on their day-to-day operations.

Co-ownership insurance will also be on the agenda. At a time when syndicates must navigate significant responsibilities related to building protection and risk management, this activity will provide a clearer understanding of the key issues that need to be considered.

Specialized Topics for Building Your Knowledge

In November, the program will provide opportunities to explore several topics that regularly raise questions in co-ownership in greater depth.

An activity on co-ownerships developed in phases and horizontal co-ownerships will examine their specific characteristics. Other training sessions will address Law 25 and the protection of personal information, as well as the declaration of co-ownership and common expenses.

These activities will provide an opportunity to explore issues that can sometimes be more technical, but that can have very concrete consequences for the administration and operation of a syndicate of co-ownership.

A Fall Season to Build Your Knowledge and Skills

Whether you want to strengthen your understanding of the fundamentals of co-ownership administration, better understand your obligations, make more informed decisions or explore a specific issue in greater depth, the RGCQ’s fall program offers several opportunities to expand your knowledge and engage with experts in the field.
