Water cooling tower obligations
Message from Régie du bâtiment du Québec
To help owners and property managers to proceed to take water samples at a facility, the board of examiners (RBQ) published a video explaining the two methods of water sampling protocol of the circuit of a cooling tower system for the detection of legionella.
On July 12, the Regulations amend the Code of safety that included provisions for the maintenance of a cooling tower water will cause owners to take or to collect water samples in each of their installation . Specimens should be at the start of each round and 30 days during the period of service. The sample should be sent to an accredited laboratory to determine the concentration of Legionella pneumophila.
These new requirements are intended to better control the concentration of Legionella in the water system of a tower.
